Working at Carleton

Peter was a research assistant in 1978-1981 at McMaster University for three years after a successful first year in natural science studies. At Carleton he has been a research assistant using climate data in 1981 briefly. He has been a teaching assistant for nine terms starting in the fall of 2003 in the school of mathematics and statistics. He left Carleton for studies at the University of Ottawa in Fall 2006.

Studying at Carleton

He graduated in 2002 with a three year general B.Math in statistics, after many years of struggling with school work.

He graduated in his second degree a B.A. in legal studies.in 2006 He has attempted to study computers and the law and his fourth year honours paper was on the topic of computer crime.

He is now a graduate student now in systems science at the University of Ottawa the other university in Ottawa.

He has been studying and researching computer ethics.

He has been computer literate since 1976; learning keyboarding and programming in his first research assistant employment. He also learned accurate data entry techniques including methods of expert and computer aided input verification. He has always had a deep concern for freedom and workers rights in computer work.

Professional Memberships

He is a member of the Canadian Mathematical Society and the Association of Internet Researchers.

He was the recording secretary from 2004-2006 for CUPE4600 the union of teaching and research assistants and contract instructors at Carleton university. Also he functioned as a steward in the Mathematics and Statistics school and a member of the Universities Joint Health and Safety Committee. He also helped maintain the unions web space at http://4600.cupe.ca

Other work

Peter is a wobbly and active in his local branch of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). Visit the IWW on the web www.iww.org.

Peter is working at Statistics Canada since leaving Carleton.

Peter also makes web pages for community groups.

Peter is trained in first aid, CPR, and psycho-social support techniques.

Peter is also trained in access control, computer security, and resource protection.

Volunteer and other community activities

Peter volunteers in the community including being a service volunteer in the legal field, a board member at consumer/survivor self help groups and in an advisory role on disAbility issues in the past at Ottawa City Hall.

Peter is also a green party member and current serves as secretary for the Ottawa Centre Federal Green Party Association.

He advocates for those with psychiatric disAbilities and seeks social justice for all people with disAbilites He was recognised in 2002 for this volunteer work by winning the John Davis Burton scholarship.

Peter is a consumer of mental illness services and keeps an out of date Internet FAQ and home page for the newsgroup alt.support.schizophrenia
